4.5 starsIn Ms Derr s world, homosexuality has never been an issue Age, look, and yes, economic status matter But not love between men As a result, she can focus on the romantic side of the story without having to put any energy on bigot characters. An Exception is the third story in Jewel series While there s no characters from the previous books made appearance beyond one time mentioning Scilsor and Johnan , the world is the same A mage has jewel that would change color following the soldier s [...]

Another sweet read Short but satisfying, leaving me with just a slight hunger for , I still need some payback on Riot s behalf But the overall connection between Riot and Coroe was lovely.

Ms Derr has the talent of making even a short story feel complete, which is not to say, I wouldn t love for her to make them longer Riot has worked his entire career for the same Lord, when he dies, Riot has to make the tough decision to no longer work for the scumbag that took his place. He leaves the castle with almost nothing, and thanks to the new lord not even a good reputation. But then comes Coroe a young fighter in need of a Mage.A quick and very enjoyable story.

Review posted at The Armchair Reader.4.5 starsAll of my friends and reader buddies know I have a huge, almost fanatic obsession with Megan Derr s stories I gobble them up as soon as I can While I enjoy her longer works, I love her short stories They re quick, they re always extremely well based in a world, seemingly given just as much attention as her longer works, and they always make me feel good I m so happy that she s continuing the Jewel Bonds series Over the last year and a half I ve read [...]

3.5 starsRiot is a 42 year old unbonded mage, who finds himself back on the street after refusing to provide certain service to the new younger lord of the castle he used to work Riot never mixes business with pleasure But when a young warrior, Coroe, offers a job escorting a lady who is going to meet her bethroted and Riot is attracted to Coroe, he wonders if he can make an exception to the rule. This is the last Megan Derr s stories I have during my marathon read at least for awhile While it is [...]

Rating 3.5 starsI like the world in which the story is set but my favorite of the three books is still An Admirer. In this story there is an older mage, Riot, who thought he was set and his future secure untill the lord he was working for died and the new one turned out to be a scumbag, who destroyed Riot s reputation and threw him out, because the mage didn t want to have any sexual relations with him.The story was pretty short and all happened very fast and convenient Of course when Riot starte [...]

This was book 3 in the Jewel Bonds series and I really enjoyed it but I wish it was just a little bit longer I enjoy this world that Miss Derr has developed with bonded mages and soldiers and the ability for the bonding to allow both the mages and soldiers to perform at higher capacities I really liked the characters of Riot and Coroe and how their relationship develops I just wish that it was a little long so that Gravington could get his just desserts in the end I thought it could have used a [...]

Meeeeeegaaaaaan It was too short Ahem I liked both Riot and Coroe. And I liked the book, although my favorite will always be Kiss the Rain.Well, another great story by Megan.

3.5 StarsRiot and Coroe were sweet Riot had a heart wrenching tale and Coroe had his faults but all worked out in the end However, I wish there was relationship development between the two MCs.Bottom line Good but my least favorite of the series.

As is almost always the case Megan Derr has brought an entire world to life in just a couple of pages Even if this is the only book of the series you have read you feel as if it is everything you need to know although there is a brief mention, probably no then a sentence which mentions one of the previous couples brought together early in the series.I love her characters a lot but it is the unique details she brings with them, she has a firm grasp on who these people are and what the world arou [...]

A last short in the Jewel Bonds world following a disgraced mage who finds himself without work after twenty years because the new Lord of the land doesn t like that he will say no Out of work and alone, mage Riot hopes a job with the younger fighter Coroe will get him out of the city long enough to remove himself from all the rumours, as well as give him enough money to start over What Riot finds if that if you cannot ever make a bend in life you may remove yourself from some of the best change [...]

The third story set in the Jewel Bonds series, this is barely related to vols 1 and 2, nevertheless Usually I don t much care for love stories with a big age difference of the MCs mostly the dynamic is quite predictable there , but Megan made it work for me, as usual I loved Coroe and the way he made Riot blossom BUT it was far too short and I would have loved to know .

I liked the fact the one of the MCs is 42 Maybe the story is a bit short, but still long enough to get invested in the characters The same interesting universe of the previous two installments.

Riot s thoughts sure were spicy Wish they manifested Nothing explicit, I dont like that Just a bit making out, some wandering hands aaaaaaaaaaaa

I have been going through a bad period, every book I have come close to, is terrible. The first one already stretched my patience, this one had no chance at all.

4.5 sweet starsAs usual, a stellar read from Megan Derr This story actually references my favorite characters from Kiss the Rain This is a great series of fun, sweet reads that are in the same world, but still not dependent on one another They re all short stories perfect for a lunch break read Or, when you need a little light fun and adventure after a heavy, emotional book.

It s no secret I love Megan s writing, and this didn t disappoint me.I like the Jewel Bonds series the idea behind the bonding of mages and warriors, with the embedded jewels in the mage s body matching the colour of their bonded warrior s eyes, an original and beautiful one.I was in the mood for something light, imaginative and happy, with a bit of adventure along the way, and who better than Megan Derr for that

This was a short read under an hour and I think that was where it suffered Don t get me wrong, I enjoyed it but there were several time jumps that could have been used to eek out the delicious sexual tension that I knew these guys possessed but we didn t really get shown.Another scene on the journey and a couple in their destination would have taken this story from a satisfying read to so much .

Typical Megan Derr s short story nice and easy, fairy tail like If you are looking for some light reading and have a half an hour spare I recommend the story Still, nothing exceptional here I prefer a bit world building that can be find in M.Derr longer stories.

It s a very good and strong short story involving her Jewels verse and I loved that she told the story from an older man s perspective An Exception is an enjoyable read and I wished it could have been longer.

A really short read that I wished was longer and for 35 pages I felt an editor could have easily caught some of the grammar errors that were present Otherwise the story was a nice read and fit really well into the Jewel Bond series.

I really do love this series I love the writing I love the characters I love the plot lines in all their simplicity And once again, my only wish is that the stories were longer Not because there is a lack in the writingNo, nobut BECAUSE it is so good

Riot me enterneci , para tener la apariencia que tiene the body of a fighter es un tierno Su relaci n con Coroe me encant , por eso pas a ser mi otp quiero leer m s de ellos, porque es muy hopeless romantic sigh aa

I really liked this story It was just long enough to get attached to the characters I wouldn t mind if there were of Riot and Coroe.

Disappointed This book doesn t contain detail of the Jewel Bonds universe The plot is plain, short and shallow.
