I liked John in the previous book so I didn t bother to read the synopsis for this one beforehand And now I ve realized that I should ve.I avoid historical romances that take place on plantations because I hate the romanticization of slavery and slave owners In this book it really pissed me off because the author thinks if she tells us enough times that Carolina is a kind and compassionate slave owner, we ll actually believe it Sure, it s her father that owns the plantation and not herbut she st [...]

It is a unique concept for an author to revisit older, established characters in their younger days When one of my authors made that choice to go back in time with two of her secondary characters I was curious to see how her efforts would turn out I am happy to say that in this instance the result was a success John and Carolina Banks were first introduced to readers in Rose Gordon s first book Intentions of the Earl as the 50 something parents to the heroine Brooklyn Banks and her two sisters T [...]

ARC received in exchange for unbiased review and originally published Caffeinated Book ReviewerI have always been drawn to tales that take place in early American history and Rose Gordon takes us on a tale to Charleston and introduces us to the funniest heroine I have ever met and the poor English chap she sets her sights on His Yankee Bride was a delightful, hilarious romance that is sure to entertain I did not real the first book in this series, but each book contains a new couple. The tale beg [...]

Oh my goodness I just finished His Yankee Bride and I am in love with these characters, I absolutely loved this book I m not even sure where to start I enjoyed it so much I think I am quickly becoming a huge fan of Rose Gordon Carolina Ellis is a young girl full of spunk, energy, kindness, and humor I found myself laughing out loud while reading some of things Carolina does and says in this book She is everything that her mother doesn t want her to be Her mother wants her to be a proper young la [...]

HIS YANKEE BRIDE by Rose Gordon is an exciting, adventurous Regency historical romance set in 1787 England and Charleston,South Carolina 2 in the Banks Brothers series, but can be read as a stand alone See, His Contract Bride You will not regret reading this series,I haven t I enjoyed the witty banter between the characters, and the intriguing plot Fast paced,I read in one setting A story of love a first sight,or at least on the part of Carolina, who is head strong, feisty, and a very determined young [...]

I didn t think it was possible, but I fell in love with John Carolina just as much as I did with Edward Regina Poor John, the youngest son of a baron, he s decided to become a country vicar and settle down with a polite young miss However, Edward thinks that John needs to go travel for a while before settling down During John s trip to America he befriends Gabriel who ultimately is the reason John s plans to settle down with the perfect country vicar s wife fall apart despite his best efforts.Ga [...]

John Banks long ago resigned himself to the life of a vicar, even if he did long for a bit of adventure before settleing down His brother Edward convinces John that it would be a good idea to spend a little time in the America s before coming back to England and becoming a Vicar John agress but has no intention of marrying a girl from the Americas In fact John knows that ideal Vicar wife is someone like his Sister In law A quiet respectful woman who understand how to act in public The last thing [...]

His Yankee Bride by Rose GordonBanks Brothers Brides Book 2John Banks has limited options for what he ll be doing the rest of his life His eldest brother, Edward, is a baron and younger brothers are left with the military, barrister or vicar So he s been studying to be a vicar the past few years When Edward suggests he takes a Grand Tour, John agrees Which is how he finds himself in the Americas When he meets a bold but beautiful woman who seems to be attracted to him he does all he can to avoid [...]

His Yankee Bride Rose GordonI really enjoyed this book, by the second book you are completely in love with the Banks Brothers and ready to see what will happen next in their family The author once again delivers on accurately bringing this historical background to life as well as giving us another set of characters to enjoy In this story the author takes us back to the Banks family with John Banks the younger brother of Edward Banks whose story began with The Contract Bride Due to being the youn [...]

Five stars Absolutely I loved the characters I loved John and Carolina, and I loved how Edward came bursting in the scene, and baby Alex and soo cute, that in my headI was literally gushing Rose Gordon has outdone herself

I absolutely adore Rose Gordon and her books This one is as good as the rest I loved seeing how The Scandalous Sisters series parents got their HEA.

I don t usually go for period romance books but this was great I was not bored and the story was well written The characters were believable I will be on the look out for the rest of the series.

Romance series all stories are related and characters continue in each subsequent book Interesting characters and story lines relaxing reads

John Carolina are perfect for each other And if you ve read the Scandalous series, you get to see why the sisters are the way they are just like their parents

Another great story of the Banks family Having read the Sisters and Grooms series already, it was interesting to see books about their parents meeting and romance I wasn t sure how I would like them Well, they were both a delight Both books could be read as stand alones but also give fun insights into some of the stories and situations in the other series as well as between His Contract Bride and this one.I found The Yankee Bride particularly good because of the change in both location enabling [...]

Carolina Ellis is sick to death of attending balls and being asked for her hand in marriage by men who bore her to tears So when nineteen year old John Banks, happens in on one dressed as a poor vagrant, and immediately pokes fun at himself earning the laughter of those around him, Carolina is smitten And after just one dance with him she is determined that they will wed John isn t so easy to convince at first, but then he soon learns you can t escape fate My Rating 4 out of 5 starsI didn t beli [...]

It s Itazura Na Kiss historical romance style You ve got the bumbling heroine who spends most of the book thinking the hero loves her, but that he s just shy about it, so she tries everything to get him to confess his feelings Then you ve got an uptight hero who starts out annoyed with the heroine but eventually sees her for who she really is and falls for her The last quarter of the book veers off script of the manga but I think if I didn t like the kdrama version of the manga so much I would h [...]

The second book in her series I vowed to hold my opinion till I finished the book Unlike her first book I easily fell into the story mainly because I loved John from the first book However like her first book I had difficulty at time with the depth of her characters At times she held me captive with their emotion yet at others I felt like the story line seemed condensed It was as if she felt she didn t have the opportunity to delve deeper All in all I still enjoyed the book and look forward to r [...]

Love to last a lifetimeThe extended Banks family, from both sides of the pond, are the fodder for a fabulous series of books The siblings and their cousins had ideal childhoods and fantastic role models in their parents, still deeply in love after all these years This book, as well as The Contract Bride, tells us how those parents met, and fell in love, and believe me, it was a rocky road I adore stories like this, that take us back in the lives of characters we think we know.

This is a great book, and I would highly recommend it The story is cute and Rose Gordon s sense of humor comes through Since I am an author, I admire the way Gordon words things, such as Grand schemer apprentice or not, she couldn t hardly wait to spend every day for the rest of her life in his company Pick this book up today, and read this tale set shortly after the Revolutionary War July 1788 in Charleston, South Carolina I know you will love it God bless.

3.5 5.0This book starts out with a typical southern belle but very quickly turns into an unusual story that includes an insight into slavery and the American revolution.Full review in February 2013 issue of InD tale Magazine.
