Siddoway has a good command of the English language, and some of his sentences are downright enchanting It s what they build that s so lacking This paint by numbers fantasy novel is suffering from big structural issues, which then become even bigger issues in areas like characterization, plot momentum, emotional resonance, etc Pacing, in particular, is poor It s evident that the author has done extensive backstory writing, which is commendable and important he s trying to fully realize his world [...]

An ambitious debut for Siddoway, Out of Exile took me a little bit to get into The tale starts out with all the usual fantasy tropes, a nation divided by an old war, and the villain of this war beaten once but not destroyed has now returned The young hero must take up his destiny and save the realm, with a bard and a ranger thief as his companions But slowly these clich s fall away, showing a shadowy core as the tales takes the archetypal hero through a few twists and turns, showing us a vast wo [...]

I am always looking for a book that will draw me in from the beginning and this one did just that A well developed story with a diverse cast of characters, not much you could ask for The author did an excellent job of storytelling here Follow Revan and his companions on a dangerous and exciting journey Plenty of action, intrigue and battles Don t miss out Can t wait to read the second book.

What if the medieval Europe of traditional fantasy took place in the American West Out of Exile explores the combination of the two in an exciting story in a refreshingly different setting We have the classic western story of a young man, Revan, whose home is attacked and his mother kidnapped, who sets out on a journey to rescue her, set in the high mountains, rugged canyons, and broad plains of the American West, along with the buffalo hunts and horse culture of the indigenous people, but with [...]

For this and other reviews, visit RaeleighReads.Have you ever watched a child silently play with toy soldiers and horses trotting them along his imaginary map, all of the action and dialogue occurring in his head so you re left just watching these various characters meander around That s what reading this is like. There is a ton of explanation as if I were reading an historical text rather than a novel Now, I know the genre allows for a fair bit of setting up the world, but my gods, that s almost [...]

I thought it was well written Its a very entertaining tale of a young man coming into his own I would highly recommend it.
