The Cabal of Thotash is an urban fantasy Sort of.Let s start at the beginning A mysterious cult devoted to an evil Lovecraftian deity meets in an unventilated basement once a week, and everything is going well enough Honoring the Contract, doing evil deeds, making sacrifices of innocents upon the altar of Thotash, until one day they bring a young woman into their midst as an intended sacrifice And everything changes.Only 9,000 words or so long, that is all this story needed to tell a whimsical a [...]

I received a free ecopy of this novelette from the author for an honest review.I ve had this on my TBR list for a while and I decided to just sit down and take a few minutes to read it since it s only 26 pages I didn t look at the summary, I just started reading What a pleasant I m not sure that s quite the right word surprise The Cabal of Thotash is satire at its best I was laughing from the beginning These people do their best to be evil They even sacrifice a human every month however, this mo [...]

A wickedly funny story that doesn t waste a word The author manages to poke fun at so many targets in a mere 26 pages, but without being mean to any of them Very funny and very clever The second Mentioner of the Unmentionables was just inspired.

A twisted urban fantasy. This Short story ties in the Pike s death and taxes so I d advise you to read that one first, don t worry they re both fun and delightfully short. The Cabal is about about a group that worships a prince of hell and by worships I mean obey his teachings to the letter be it regarding the rituals or the human sacrifices Then one day they grab a millennial to sacrifice and she attempts to modernize the whole practice declawing the whole thing. This was a fun and light hearted r [...]

After the fantastic Orconomics I was keen to read anything else from Pike This popped up on my kindle for less then a dollar and I was straight into it As the price suggests this is a novelette length work that follows a cult in New York, worshiping a Lovecraftian deity In true Pike fashion the real world intervenes and before long the cult is dramatically less dark, but growing exponentially in size.I found this to be a very enjoyable, quick read which introduces a little bit of the humor you c [...]

This satirical novella is about how a purist cabal, dedicated to evil drifts away from following the evil Contract literally One snarky change at a time, they make evil relevant and end up with hundreds of followers, a fancy facility, community spoiling projects, and even evil leadership conferences But while they might think the old ways are outdated, Thotash does not.

Thotash isn t easy to please, and the members of the cabal are starting to get irritated with the conditions of their stuffy ritual center and the incessant banging from their upstairs neighbors As far as cultist rituals go, these aren t particularly glamorous The mundane nature is part of the charm of The Cabal of Thotash The world goes on, while the cabal bickers about the noodley specifics of their dark contract with a primordial god Also, I m pretty sure most of them just show up for the dan [...]

Is it a cult or a group of confused worshippers of evil that has not been found When a failed sacrifice becomes the next leader of the wannabe cult A cult that sounds like a Duncan Hines cookbook discussion Things change for the worse and the cult becomes that of the past The ending leaves a mystery to readers and I m not sure I even caught on Had a few laughs, weak character description and quirky dialogue I just think should be added to this short story.

The Contract had an air of esoteric mysticism when it covered topics related to the universe s deepest secrets, yet it was gratuitously specific regarding the wrath of Thotash and the penalty for default On the list of Things That Lose Their Effectiveness When Made Politically Correct, right up near the top is Organizations that worship evil gods bent on our destruction It seems these Cthulhu types have really aggressive lawyers.

This story plays out like a bad high school nightmare Its about a bunch of ignorant cultist that cant seem to get it together and just then comes a girl a teen girl that even though shes supposed to be the sacrifice suddenly takes over the cult the cult then becomes a teen girls drama scene there is nothing scarey about this book it reminded me of watching another bad movie the ending well there is writing on the wall, what does it say who knows maybe you can just make it up as you go
