I had some trouble getting into this book It was like the author took every single cozy theme she could think of and threw them all together the main character owns a restaurant that also serves afternoon tea, hosts cake baking competitions, houses a book store w book discussions, and also a yarn shop, complete with knitting classes She also saves battered women and extends the restaurant to a neighboring church It was just too much and I came away knowing about all these different business obje [...]

I enjoy Laura Childs tea shop mysteries and have found her scrapbooking ones to be just OK But this new series based in the Midwest looks like it might be the best one so far I thought the main characters had a little depth to them then the other ones, but it still is in the genre of a light mystery with very little gore Plus the description of all the food made me extremely hungry The only thing I was disappointed in was that there weren t recipes listed for all the egg dishes mentioned in th [...]

Hmm I find it very jarring when a writer who s previous books I have read and enjoyed all of the sudden gets the urge to use foul language I understand about each series needing to be different, but I don t understand why they have to go in that particular direction Especially when the other books with NO language have worked so well for them Oh well. That said, I did like this book After the first initial shock of language and to be honest, its NOT like its F words , I really started to get into [...]

Laura Childs other two series are not among my favorites, but this series opener promises better things Three friends one widowed, one almost divorced, the third with a husband in a nursing home start a small town restaurant called the Cackleberry Club When the widow, Suzanne, finds her lawyer s dead body behind the Club, they become enmeshed in a far reaching mystery Suzanne s husband was a physician and member of some of the town planning boards now he s retroactively accused of taking bribes [...]

Sometimes women lose their husbands and need shoulders to lean on They may not even all lose their husbands in the same way, but there is something about a good friend or two that makes things easier to deal with Suzanne, Toni, and Petra are just that great friends in sort of similar situations looking for good support in each other They open the Cackleberry Club, a little cafe that also has a book nook and knitting area It goes over great and they just love what they are doing One day though th [...]

Suzanne, Toni, and Petra lose their husbands but find independence when they open the Cackleberry Club Then their cozy cafe becomes the scene of a crime when a lawyer dies with a secret on his lips and egg on his face What this all has to do with a religious cult and Suzanne s past could put her own life on the line.Kindred, Tennessee is definitely small town southern life Suzanne one of the three owners of the Cackleberry Club cafe along with her two friends, are believable characters This cozy [...]

This is the first book in the Cackleberry Club Mystery series by Laura Childs, who also writes the Tea Shop Mysteries and the Scrapbook Mysteries.Suzanne and her best friends Toni and Petra are co owners of The Cackleberry Club, a restaurant teashop bookstore yarn shop that has become very popular in the burgeoning town of Kindred. One morning her attorney, Bobby Waite brings over some papers for her to sign, and a little while later, is found in his truck outside the building, with a bullet in h [...]

Up until now, I would have said that Laura Childs is one of my very favorite authors I adore her always delightful Tea Shop MysterySeries and can hardly wait to cozy up with the latest in her Scrapbooking Mystery Series However, her newest series The Cackleberry Club, I found rather disappointing There was a crudeness and tendency to mild vulgarity that was especially apparent in the beginning Totally unlike her other two series The book began like it had been written by someone else entirely, b [...]

A good read for a long airplane car trip if all else that they were selling in the gift shop was James Patterson books I was really puzzled by the egg metaphors the author is using for this series It s about a small diner bookshop yarn store tea room and the women who run the.whatever the hell it is I found the entire concept to be just weird and unfocused Sure, the place serves eggs, but also books, scones and knitting needles For crying out loud, pick a setting I also found the shift in tone h [...]

Easy read Like able characters I get hungry reading this book Loved the Eggs in Purgatory recipe But the recipe calls for 8 eggs, I did it with 4, and chipotle The three ladies that run the Cacleberry Club are a hoot Suzanne, Petra Toni complete each other I could see myself at this restaurant, wishing there was a real one in my city. And No, the butler didn t do it.Can t wait to serve up the next book Eggs Benedict Arnold.

My first reading Laura Childs LOVE IT First in the CACKLEBERRY CLUB MYSTERY series Getting ready to start the 2nd, Eggs Benedict Arnold Don t you love the titles Anywaye 3 ladies of the club restaurant are magnificent Good food, bookstore, knitting groupd murder Story moved right along and was a fun read.

I like cozy mystery books But this was too cozy and it read like a commercial The author couldn t describe anything from glassware to automobiles without brand names so much so I was beginning to think she was getting paid for product placement rather than writing a novel.

Eggs in Purgatory by Laura Childs is the first book in the Cackleberry Club series I have wanted to read this one for some time and finally got around to it I m glad I did This cozy mystery had a lot going on Suzanne, Toni and Petra are the owners of the Cackleberry Club an egg restaurant, book store, yarn shop and With a couple of murders, a secretive religious organization, a famous romance author, a church fire, a woman on the run, afternoon teais and much make up Eggs in Purgatory Since th [...]

Hadn t read any of her books before and picked up a couple at a mystery book store during a trip this summer This is the first in one of many series that she writes This series centers around three women who have lost their husbands and have started a restaurant tea shop book store talk about wish fulfillment as a way to carve out new lives for themselves Not sure if this series is for me though I enjoyed it but didn t love it, mainly due to the main character making some really questionable cho [...]

Huh I thought when I circled back to read the first book in the series I d have found out about the CC opening and the friendships between Toni Petra Suzanne Not so much Just a case of here is what was, now here s what is and let s get into murder, shall we Which is weird because I swear it seems like the CC just opened and yet they had no hurdles No learning curve No struggles, if one ignores the bodies that ll turn up because it s a mystery series Really Really

An enjoyable read Not as good as her Scrapbooking Mysteries, but still good I liked the MC s and the mystery was interesting I d like to visit the Cackleberry Club, with its cafe, book nook, and knitting area Such a perfect combination I couldn t guess the murderer until it was revealed because they weren t very prominent in the book O That makes it hard to figure out who done it Still a good book, and I d read in the series.

A very nice read Love the Cackleberry cafe, makes ou want to go there for breakfast The bond between those three ladies was a bonus Also, there were very few clues o help us in getting to help solve the two murders Makes you wonder What will happen next.

Not fond of starting a new series but this series is going to be a good one This is book one in the series and egg cited about listening to the next five in this electronic book Light read with a cast of strong women characters and a few good ole boys mixed in.

I guessed the killer after a little then 1 4 of the novel but I really enjoyed the story.Character List view spoiler Toni skinny hips, wearing an AC DC concert Tshirt and tight jeans, her reddish blond frizzled hair pulled on top of her head like a show pony Toni was pretty hot stuff Toni, as waitress supreme, Toni led the book club on Tuesday nights.Petra was short order cook, Petra taught Hooked on Wool classes, Petra was smart, intuitive, and a calming influence With her bright brown eyes an [...]

Book Number One in Laura Child s Cackleberry Club mysteries starts us In a rehabbed Spur station outside the small town of Kindred A cozy little caf that serves up a plethora of egg related dishes and baked goods By the second page, I knew there was something familiar Couldn t be the eggs because I don t like eggs I love coffee and tea Why then am I reading a book not about coffee or tea Answer Laura Childs I ve read every one of her Tea Shop Mysteries and fell in love with the location, the peo [...]

A small town eatery, brimming with deliciously mouthwatering breakfast fantasies is in trouble, a murder takes place in the back and the daily special is all over the corpse Quaint charm and happy atmosphere are overshadowed by an investigation that seems to have suspects than possible, it appears that the town is small but it holds many secrets Suzanne, Toni, and Petra are best friends and coworkers, they run the charming Cackleberry Club together, and besides baking and cooking, brewing coffe [...]

I loved Laura Child s teashop d but but found Eggs In Purgatory very slow, then all at once too erratic to be believed It has a very nice concept I love Petra s calm, person of faith demeanour very much and applaud the creation of two characters, protagonist Suzanne and Tony in their forties It is long overdue that we leave behind young adult demographics, or heiresses seldom older than eighteen I m a young, gorgeous woman of forty and prefer reading about free spirited women nearer my age Their [...]

This is a new series from Tea Shop mystery series author Laura Childs It came out last year, but I didn t get around to reading it until now Suzanne Dietz and her friends, Toni and Petra, have all lost their husbands in one way or another They go into business together and open the Cackleberry Club, full of fresh baked goods and what else, tea They also serve eggs and sandwiches among other things But Suzanne s cozy little world that she has rebuilt since the death of her husband, Walter, is abo [...]

I have been puzzling as to why it has taken me so long to read this book a cozy mystery usually takes only a few hours or stretches out only over a couple days I have concluded that it was just not that compelling, even though it was interesting I liked all of the characters in the book and the setting and the restaurant book shop yarn store combo and I was curious as to who killed the victims But only in a vague disconnected sort of way I never bonded with any of the characters, even though I w [...]

When Bobby Waite is shot to death behind Suzanne Dietz s caf , Suzanne is shocked Bobby was not only her lawyer, but her friend Suzanne s discovery of a second body, however, has some of the townsfolk, not to mention Sheriff Doogie, wondering about her But this is not Suzanne s only worry The town council is accusing her late husband of taking a 4 million kickback on a construction project, and a badly beaten young woman shows up on her doorstep begging for help.Eggs in Purgatory includes many o [...]
