    I wanted so much to like this book the story as described on the book jacket was interesting, but I just couldn t slog through all the italicized journal entries of the Jesuit priest When the author commented through one of his characters that the priest s writing style was old fashioned, pedantic, and overly detailed, he was absolutely right, but he should have considered how that would affect his readers After the first four or five, I started to skip them I ultimately stopped reading the book [...]

    As good a read as Norman Gautreau s Sea Room Some mystery, some conflict, nice depiction of Maine and a good ending.
